The Kitchen Company was established in 1987 by Mike and Gillian Amery, a husband and wife contractor and designer team. We feature a close-knit staff of talented professionals working together to bring beautiful kitchen designs to life. Our expertise gives you the tools to help make your dreams a reality, but it is our passion for design which makes the process a rewarding experience for everyone involved. With over 75 years of combined experience, The Kitchen Company has designed and built kitchens all over the country – from Chicago to Maui, Florida to Maryland, and all throughout our home here in Santa Barbara County.

Gillian Amery, Owner & Designer
Gillian has over 30 years of experience designing and crafting kitchens and baths throughout the Santa Barbara area. She now leads a highly experienced staff at The Kitchen Company’s unique product showroom. Gillian’s Honors Degree in Fine Art from London, England and her interior design qualifications from Santa Barbara City College – combined with her natural flair for design – make her the premiere kitchen designer. Her ability to visualize a completed kitchen from the start, coupled with her vast storehouse of product knowledge, has resulted in many awe-inspiring projects. Gillian has a love for design and the arts, which comes through in all the spaces she has created.

Mike Amery, Owner & General Contractor
Mike is an expert craftsman who coordinates installations for every project with The Kitchen Company. After completing a 5-year building apprenticeship in England and receiving a City & Guilds Degree, Mike has worked as a general contractor in Santa Barbara for over 30 years. He has a passion for cooking and enjoys gathering with family and friends in his own kitchen. Mike loves to create the same atmosphere and space for all of The Kitchen Company clients, resulting in rooms that people love to entertain in. An avid sailor, Mike has also participated in many offshore races, as well as local regattas.

Teresa Gardner, Designer & Draftsperson
Teresa has been drafting and designing for The Kitchen Company since 2000. She received her interior design and CAD training at Santa Barbara City College, earning an Outstanding Achievement Award during her studies. Teresa’s ability to communicate with clients and interpret their ideas into visual plans results in customized spaces designed for every need. When Teresa is not in the showroom, she enjoys taking care of her horses and riding along the trails near her home in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Patricia Just, Designer
Patricia began her career in New York after graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute. After running her own design firm for 15 years, Pat joined The Kitchen Company in 2001. Her passion for space planning is evident in her ability to transform ordinary spaces into a balance of light, space, texture, function, and sensation. Pat is a world traveler that loves to explore new places with her husband, and while at home in Goleta, she loves to hike and garden.

In January, my wife began working with Pat to redo our kitchen. Between January and March, she provided outstanding guidance and ideas for the work we wanted to do. Pat, along with The Kitchen Company staff, helped us make excellent choices about how to use our space and how to gain the functionality we wanted. During the design phase, we expanded the project and decided to do a major redo of our living room, bedrooms, and laundry. Again, The Kitchen Company provided outstanding advice at every stage. During the planning stages, Mike told us that the work would begin on April 4 and that we would be able to move back into our home by June 15.
The work started promptly on April 4 and we were back in our home June 10. During the course of the work, Mike and all of his subcontractors could not have been more professional. All of the workers on the project were professional, courteous, and attentive to what we wanted to do. The quality of all of the work was outstanding, and we could not be happier with the outcome. We would highly recommend Pat, Mike, and the entire Kitchen Company staff for any project – from a kitchen remodel, to a house redo.
